Brought a Gun…

Mommy.. Johnny brought a gun in his bag, he toted it to school,

He told his friends that it was fake and to be silent “everyone be cool”,

And when he pulled the trigger back, It shot with a loud crack,

It happened so fast and quick, that’s when everything went black.

Mommy, I was a good girl, I did What I was told,

I went to school, I got straight A’s, I even got athletic golds!

But Mommy when I went to school that day, I never said good-bye,

I’m sorry Mommy, I had to go, But Mommy, please don’t cry.

When Johnny shot the gun, He hit me and another,

Because Johnny shot his gun he got from his older brother.

Mommy, please tell Daddy; That I love him very much,

And please tell Zack my boyfriend, That it wasn’t just a crush.

And tell my little sister I’m gone, but not why and or how,

And tell my dear grandmother; I’ll be waiting at the gates now,

And tell my wonderful friends; That they always were the best;

Mommy, I’m not the first, and I’m no better than all the rest.

Mommy, tell my teachers; I won’t be in any class,

And never to forget this and to protect the kids that bullies constantly harass.

Mommy, why’d it have to be me, no child ever deserves this,

Mommy please warn all the others, that the bullets may have missed.

And Mommy tell the doctors; I know they worked hard and tried

I think I even saw a doctor, Trying not to show he cried.

Mommy, I’m slowly dying, With a bullet in my chest,

But Mommy please remember, I’m in heaven with all the rest.

Mommy I ran as fast as I could, then I heard that loud crack,

When I felt a sting that burned so hot right in my lower back,

I wanted to one day marry, have a family with lots of kids,

I wanted to be an actress, Mommy, I wanted to make it big.

But Mommy I must leave you now, The time has come to go,

Mommy tell my friends, I’m sorry I wont be there in life as they all grow.

I love you Mommy, I always have, I know you know it’s true,

And all I wanted to say is, “Mommy, I love you” and you to hear me as I do….
